Overview of Southwestern College
Southwestern College (SWC) is one of the 109 public community colleges in the state of California. Established in 1961 in San Diego county, the school offers more than 285 associate degree and certificate options to its more than 18,000 student population. With a wide variety of programs, a full athletics program, and international studies program, Southwestern College is known for enhancing the personal and professional skills of its students, producing excellent graduates who are ready to enter the work force or pursue a higher-level degree.

Southwestern College offers over 285 different degree and certificate programs to its students. Programs are designed to be hands-on when possible, with students able to take advantage of labs and workshops on campus. Curriculums are designed to enrich the personal and professional skills, for a well rounded graduate that can work and function on the job efficiently and happily. Some of the programs offered at Southwestern College include Certified Nursing Assistant, Landscape and Nursery Technology, Business Management, and Computer Information Systems.
Southwestern College Selectivity
The admission's process at Southwestern College requires first the the applicant provide a high school diploma or an equivalent diploma. Next an application needs to be filled out and submitted to the admissions office on campus. An application is available at the San Ysidro Education Center, or at the Higher Education Center in National City. After the application is submitted, students are allowed to register for classes and will be given instructions by the admissions department about assessment testing, orientation, and academic counseling. Tours of the campus are always a good choice for new students to learn the layout of the campus and meet some professors in their department.
Southwestern College Faculty Quality
Southwestern College's faculty are the main part of the quality educational process in all programs offered. The faculty are all experienced professors who bring their wealth of knowledge about the subjects they teach into the classroom, helping to being a piece of the work place to the students, as well as teaching them the skills, before entering the job market. All professors teach from constantly updated cirri culms that conform to what employers are looking for. All of the faculty members at Southwestern College are there to make the educational process smooth and fun, as well as challenging and enriching, and will do whatever it takes to help students graduate.
Southwestern College Student Body
The student body at Southwestern College is large. With over 18,000 students enrolled at the school, the population is diverse, with people coming from all over California and the surrounding states to attend classes at Southwestern College. The campus does not have housing of its own, but that usually doesn't stop students from forming lasting relationships that continue outside of the classroom, and sometimes into the work place after graduation. The international programs allows students from all over the world to come to the college to attend classes, and also allows students the opportunity to study abroad, such as in China at Guangzhou University.
Southwestern College Student Life
Student life at Southwestern College is exciting, with so many people doing so many things on campus and around the city. The school has a very active sports programs including everything from baseball to water polo teams. The campus is host to many different clubs and organizations, and also have an active student senate. There is also many special events that happen on campus, with a ca lender full of them every month. The city is large and is perfect for the college lifestyle with many bars, clubs, restaurants, stores, and malls. California is a beautiful state full of many beautiful sights, and miles of sandy beaches.
