Southwestern Illinois College, or SWIC, is a community college and the sixth largest in Illinois. It was founded in 1946. The campuses are located in Belleville, Granite City, and Red Bud. There are also more than 25 off-campus sites located throughout the district. SWIC is a comprehensive educational institution committed to providing the best learning opportunities. The college offers more than 85 associate degree programs and over 80 certificates of proficiency in diverse areas of study.
Southwestern Illinois College provides its students the opportunity to participate in intercollegiate and intramural sports. The sports teams play soccer, baseball, basketball, and softball. There are also men and women’s golf teams. SWIC is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC). Their sports teams are nicknamed the Blue storm.
