Stephen F. Austin State University, or SFA, is a public university located in Nacogdoches, Texas, United States. It was founded in the year 1923. The university was named after one of Texas' founding fathers, Stephen F. Austin. The main campus sits on an area of 642 acres. SFA offers more than 120 areas of study including more than 80 undergraduate majors and over 50 graduate degrees. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:
SFA’s men’s athletic teams are called the Lumberjacks, and the women's teams are known as the Ladyjacks. They participate in the NCAA Division I in the Southland Conference.

The school is known for its programs in music, art studies, nutrition and exercise therapy, liberal arts, and conservation and resource management.
