Overview of Strayer University Online

Strayer University began as a small Maryland college when it was established in 1892. It was known then as Strayer's Business College of Baltimore City. Since that time, Strayer has expanded to 45 campuses in the District of Columbia and 11 eastern states. In 1996, Strayer University Online was established as an online adjunct of the University for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of working adult students in a convenient and flexible format. Strayer Online today offers dozens of degree programs in a wide variety of fields.

Areas of Study

Strayer offers the same high-quality courses online as it does on its campuses. The University offers dozens of online undergraduate and graduate programs in fields such as accounting, business, education, general studies, health services administration, information systems, and public administration. Degree types include MBA, Master of Science, Executive Graduate Certificates, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, Associate in Arts, Diplomas, and Undergraduate Certificates. All programs offered at Strayer's campuses are also available online.

Strayer University Online Admissions

The application process is easy and can be done online. An online form is available, through which the applicant enters personal data and transcript request info. The application fee can also be paid online.

Strayer University Online Faculty Quality

The Online campus of Strayer University has an experienced faculty whose members understand the realities of today’s business environment. Instructors have been specially trained to facilitate a productive and stimulating online learning experience. All of Strayer's instructors hold at least a master's degree, and many of them also hold a Ph.D. in the field they teach.

Strayer University Online Student Body

Strayer Online's students are mostly working adults seeking to earn degrees while continuing to work full-time. The average student age is 34. Altogether, the University serves about 36,000 adult students who attend classes at one of the campus locations or online.

Strayer University Online Student Life

The online student experience is one of convenience and flexibility. All that is needed is a computer and access to the Internet. All of the necessary software is available free from the school's website or through links. The University also offers online tech support. Synchronous classes meet weekly at a regularly scheduled day and time. Asynchronous courses are designed to accommodate student schedules; students complete their coursework any time day or night but must log in at least once a week.
