The State University of New York at Potsdam, SUNY Potsdam, is a four year public university in Potsdam, New York. Established in 1816, it was formerly known as the St. Lawrence Academy and was given its present name in 1964. It offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas like humanities, science, and education. The schools of the university are follows:

SUNY Potsdam is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference and Division III National Collegiate Athletics Association. The university is also a member of SUNY Athletic Conference. The nickname of the athletics teams is the Potsdam Bears. It has 14 varsity teams which participate in sports like swimming, dicing, lacrosse, hockey, basketball, golf, and softball.
