Overview of Texas Culinary Academy

Based in Austin, TX, the school was originally formed as Le Chef College of Hospitality Careers back in the early 1980s before changing to its current name, Texas Culinary Academy in 1999. Today, it is one of a small group of culinary arts schools with the distinction of offering the highly regarded Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Program.

Areas of Study

The school’s curriculum is focused on preparing students for a real-world career in food preparation. While the school provides a substantial practical education, there is also instruction on the theory behind the art, giving students a broader base on which to apply their trade.

Students can pursue the Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts provide a high-quality, classical cooking education. Along with the degree, successful candidates also receive Le Cordon Bleu Dīplome, a prestigious honor that adds a powerful element to any food professional’s resume.

Texas Culinary Academy Admissions and Financial Aid

Applicants are expected to hold a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum. An interview is required, although for out-of-town students this may be conducted by telephone. The interview is used, in part, to determine suitability for the program. There are no particular application deadlines.

While finding money for school can be a trying experience, the school provides financial aid staff to make the process run more smoothly and successfully. Students with the proper qualification may receive financial assistance from a multitude of government and private sources.

The school is staffed by well-qualified, field-proven chef instructors who are trained to pass on their experience and knowledge to their students. Class sizes are limited so teachers can better provide the attention to each student’s needs.

Texas Culinary Academy Student Life

The school sponsors a range of extra-curricular activities, such as cooking competitions, for both fun and additional learning opportunities. There is also a student government that helps students develop leadership skills.
