The Texas State Technical College - West Texas is a branch campus of the Texas State Technical College System, or TSTC. TSTC was established in 1965, and was initially known as the James Connally Technical Institute of Texas A & M University. The institute received its present name in the year 1991. The Texas State Technical College - West Texas operates campuses in Sweetwater, Breckenridge, Abilene, and Brownwood.

The Texas State Technical College - West Texas offers a wide variety of degree programs. Students can opt for courses in the fields of agriculture food and natural resources, health science, hospitality and tourism, audio-video technology and communications, and business management and administration, among others.

The Texas State Technical College - West Texas sponsors various student clubs and organizations. Among those available on the different campuses include the Association of Information Technology Professionals, Phi Theta Kappa-Beta Zeta Psi Chapter, Environmental Science Technology Club, Phi Theta Kappa-Beta Iota Eta Chapter, Photography Club, and Student Government Association.
