Overview of The Hair Design School

Founded in 1972, The Hair Design School is a Kentucky institution specializing in cosmetology training. With six campus locations in the state (Elizabethtown, Florence, and four Louisville campuses), the school prepares students for careers in the beauty industry. The Hair Design School is operated by Empire Education Group, owners of a national network of cosmetology schools.

Areas of Study

The Hair Design School offers career training programs in four specialties. Not all of them are available at all six campuses. Programs available include the following:

• Cosmetology: an 1800-hour program offered at all campuses.
• Nail Technology: a 600-hour program offered at Elizabethtown, Florence, and the Dixie and Hurstbourne campuses in Louisville.
• Esthetics: a 1000-hour program offered at the Elizabethtown and Louisville-Hurstbourne campuses.
• Educator Training: a 1000-hour program offered at all campuses.

The Hair Design School Admissions

Admissions information can be obtained directly from the schools by completing an easy online form. In addition to completing the student application, applicants must be at least 16 and hold a high school diploma or GED certificate in order to be admitted. Those who have not graduated from high school may substitute a passing grade on the Ability to Benefit Assessment Test for all programs except Esthetics.

The Hair Design School Student Body

The number of students attending the school varies from one campus to another. Enrollments range from about 60 to just under 200 students. Total enrollment across all campuses is about 750 students.

The Hair Design School Student Life

Parking is available at all six Hair Design School campuses. Most of the sites are conveniently located off major highways and many afford easy access to public transportation. Students work and study in modern facilities and have access to up-to-date educational equipment and high-end tools of the trade.
