The University of the Arts, also known as UArts, was established in 1985. It was a created by the merger of the Philadelphia College of Art and Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. The university is located in Center City, Philadelphia. UArts offers over eight graduate degree and more than 15 undergraduate degree programs. Apart from the regular courses, UArts also provides programs of continuing education. The student body includes international enrollments from over 30 foreign countries. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • College of Media and Communication
  • College of Performing Arts
  • College of Art and Design

UArts maintains an active student life and is home to a number of clubs and organizations. Alpha Psi Omega, Student Council, African American Student Union, and the Global Exchange are a few of these. Some of the notable alumni of the university include Irene Bedard, actress; Anthony Burrell, dancer, Maxwell Atoms, animator among others.
