It was established in the year 1992 by the union of Mohegan Community College and Thames Valley Community Technical College. TRCC offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The college also offers continuing education programs.

TRCC’s student life is vibrant and active. The campus hosts a wide variety of events and student activities. There are several student clubs and organizations on including the American Institute Of Architectural Students, African–American Organization, Amnesty International, and Business Club/Phi Beta Lambda.
