University of Alaska Fairbanks, also known as UAF, is situated in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was established in 1917. The university offers more than 20 certificates and 160 degrees in over 100 disciplines. UAF has nine academic colleges and schools:

  • The College of Engineering and Mines
  • The College of Liberal Arts
  • The College of Natural Science and Mathematics
  • The College of Rural and Community Development
  • The School of Education
  • The School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences

Apart from its Fairbanks campus, the university also encompasses other urban and rural campuses:

The university's athletics teams are the Alaska Nanooks. The colors are gold and blue. The sports teams of UAF include soccer, water polo, basketball, volleyball, and various other sports. Jay S. Hammond, former Alaska governor, was a famous alumnus of this university.
