University of California - Davis, also referred to as UC Davis, is a coeducational public institution under the University of California. It was established in 1905 as the University Farm and was reestablished as a general University of California campus in 1959. The institution enrolls over 25,000 students each year. UC Davis offers a wide selection of degrees from the fields of engineering, science, agricultural science and management, and liberal arts.
The institution's sports teams are called the UC Davis Aggies. The official mascot of the team is Gunrock the Mustang. Sports include track and field, baseball, basketball, football, and many others.
The most distinguished alumni of the institute include astronaut Steve Robinson, who transmitted the first ever podcast from space in 2005, and Emmy winners Steve Mcfreely and Chris Markus.

Students at the school can choose among many degree programs. Students commonly pursue studies in engineering, science, agricultural science and management, and liberal arts.
Prospective students are advised that admissions are not open to all; the school selects from among qualified applicants. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 490. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 540 and 660.
The school has a tenure system for senior faculty. The full-time faculty at UC Davis is well-paid, which often goes with faculty quality.
The school has 29,796 enrolled students (as of 2007). UC Davis has a large minority student population.
A lot of students at the school attend part-time. UC Davis values student athletics, and belongs to the Big West Conference and Other.
