The University of Charleston is a private, co-educational university located in Charleston, West Virginia. The university was established by the Southern Methodist denomination in 1888. It was initially known as the Barboursville Seminary. The University of Charleston offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various fields of study. The University of Charleston is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division II and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
