The University of Kentucky, also referred to as UK, is a public coeducational research university located in Lexington, Kentucky. It is the largest land-grant university of the state. The institution was established in 1865 and currently offers admission to over 25,000 students every year. The university offers various majors in the field of media studies.
University of Kentucky’s sports teams are nicknamed the Wildcats. The official mascot of the team is "Scratch the Wildcat" and is also referred to as "Blue", "Scratch", or "The Wildcat". The university has men's and women's teams in basketball, cross country running, golf, rifle shooting, soccer, swimming and diving, track and field, and tennis. There are also separate women's teams in gymnastics, softball, and volleyball. In addition, the university sponsors a club-level men's ice hockey team.
