The University of Nebraska–Lincoln, also known as UNL, is the flagship institution of the University of Nebraska system. It was founded in 1869. UNL’s main campus is located in Lincoln, a few blocks north of the Nebraska State Capitol. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and over 250 programs of study. It is organized into the following academic divisions:
UNL’s sports teams are nicknamed the Nebraska Cornhuskers, or simply the Huskers. They participate in NCAA Division I (I-A for football) as members of the northern division of the Big 12 Conference.
