The University of Nevada Las Vegas, or UNLV, is a public coeducational university located in Paradise, Nevada, United States. UNLV offers over 200 programs of study in diverse fields leading to bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees. The campus is located on Maryland Parkway and is spread across an area of 337 acres. Some of the academic divisions of the university are:
UNLV's athletics department fields more than 15 intercollegiate teams that participate in a variety of sports. The men’s sports teams are nicknamed the Rebels. The women’s sports teams are called the Lady Rebels.

The most common majors at the school are in hospitality.
UNLV does not have an open admissions system. Not everyone who applies is accepted. Only 25% of students scored 450 or lower in 2007 on the verbal SAT test. Math SAT scores at the school centered around 450 to 580, but ranged both higher and lower. People attending UNLV come from a variety of states around the country.
A tenure system is one way the school works to keep a high-quality staff. Instructors at UNLV are well-paid.

A lot of students at UNLV attend part-time. The school offers students meal plans. UNLV student athletes compete in Mountain West Conference competitions.
