The University of North Texas, or UNT, is a public university located in Denton, Texas, United States. It was established in 1890 by Joshua Chilton as the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute. UNT is the flagship of the University of North Texas System. The university offers a wide variety of degrees and programs through the following academic divisions:
UNT competes at the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) level as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Mean Green.

The most common major fields study at the school include music and liberal arts.
