University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is a public, liberal arts university located in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The name of the university is abbreviated as USAO. Established as the Oklahoma Industrial Institute and College for Girls in 1908, the university was given its current name in 1974. USAO offers bachelor’s degrees in arts, sciences and fine arts. Some of the subject areas are economics, political science, communication, drama, physics, natural science, health, education, mathematics, history and sociology.
USAO participates in the Sooner Athletic Conference, and the athletic teams of the university go by the nickname of the Drovers. Students are offered a comprehensive athletic program and they participate in sports such as softball, soccer, basketball and baseball. The mascot of the university is a Drover. Financial aid is provided to eligible candidates at USAO. Scholarships such as Talent Plus, the University Scholarship, the Academic Scholarship and other grants, loans and work programs are also available.
