The University of South Carolina Beaufort is a senior campus of the University of South Carolina. It traces its roots to the Beaufort College that was established in 1795. However, this institute closed down in 1861. The University of South Carolina set up an extension campus at the site of this college in 1959. Also referred to as USCB, the campus occupies 208 acres of land in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Attracting a racially and culturally diverse student body of varying ages and experiences, the University of South Carolina Beaufort draws its students primarily from the South Carolina Lowcountry, with representation from other parts of the state, other states, and foreign countries. The University encourages students to think analytically and abstractly, to explore options, to see similarities, to be open to differences, to communicate effectively, and to respect each individual.
