The University of the Incarnate Word is a private Catholic university located in the Alamo Heights neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas. It was established in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. The campus is spread across an area of more than 150 acres. UIW offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. It is organized into the following academic divisions:
UIW’S fields more than 15 varsity sports teams, nicknamed the Cardinals. UIW men's and women's soccer teams are consistently nationally recognized.
