The University of West Alabama, also known as UWA, is a public, four-year institution located in Livingston, Alabama, United States. It was established in 1835 as Livingston Female Academy and State Normal College. The main campus spreads across an area of 600 acres. UWA offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The university is organized into the following academic units:

UWA’s athletic teams participate in the Eastern Division of the Gulf South Conference in the NCAA Division II. The university sponsors more than 10 different sports teams. The teams are nicknamed the Tigers.
