The Vanguard University of Southern California, established in 1920, is located in Costa Mesa, California. It originally began as the Southern California Bible School which was founded to prepare Christian workers. The Bible school moved to Pasadena in 1927 and was chartered as the Southern California Bible College in 1939. The college moved to its present location in 1950 and nine years later its name was changed to Southern California College. It received university status in 1999, and became Vanguard University of Southern California. The university offers an array of degrees and programs through the following schools and colleges :

Vanguard University's sports teams, known as the Lions, participate in softball, cross country, tennis, basketball, swimming, volleyball, and track & field. The Associated Student Body government serves the students of the university.
