Western Nevada College is a public community college, which was originally known as the Western Nevada Community College. It was established in 1971, and after being granted approval by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, the name was changed to Western Nevada College in July of 2007. The college’s campuses are located in:

  • Carson City
  • Fallon
  • Minden

Apart from these 3 campuses, WNC also has centers in:

  • Fernley
  • Hawthorne
  • Lovelock
  • Smith Valley
  • Yerington

WNC offers a number of associate degrees and certificate programs in areas of study like business and computer technology, communications and fine arts, technology, nursing and allied health, science, mathematics, engineering, social science, education, humanities and public service.

Western Nevada College’s athletics teams are known as the Wildcats. They participate in sports like baseball and softball. Its baseball team has won a number of conference and district championships.
