Westwood College

Overview of Westwood College

Westwood College is probably easier to understand if you think of it as a group of colleges, since more than a dozen incarnations of this career training institute are scattered across the US. All are known as Westwood College, though always with a qualifying dash – as in “Westwood College - Inland Empire” (found in Upland, CA). Established over fifty-three years ago as a small, solitary technical training school, and known for decades as the Denver Institute of Technology, it has shortened its name and expanded its allure in recent years, proliferating into the Los Angeles basin and opening facilities in Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Annandale and Arlington, Virginia. All offer the same brand of technical education as its affiliate and sister school, Westwood College Online, which was founded in 2002 and offers more than a dozen different degree programs, ranging from E-Commerce to Automotive Repair, on the web.

Brick-and mortar outlets include Atlanta (Mid-town and Northlake); Denver (North and South); DuPage, Chicago loop, River Oaks and O’Hare Airport in northern Illinois; and Anaheim, South Bay (Torrance) and Los Angeles. The Westwood Colleges and Westwood College Online, as well as Redstone College (the former Westwood College of Aviation Technology) are owned by a corporation that helps prepare students for the college boards.

Westwood College Faculty

Student Body

In addition to thousands of learners online, Westwood provides career education and vocational assistance to a diverse amalgam of almost 9000 students (based on a recent survey) in its nationwide office park classrooms. Most are looking to enhance their prospects in one of the practical careers that Westwood offers guidance in, and all commute or use the web to get to class.

Student life

Most of Westwood’s curriculum is geared toward enhancing the occupational opportunities that are available to working professionals. Students commute to campus, and student life is generally limited to encounters in class.
