William Mitchell College Of Law

William Mitchell College of Law is a private and independent law school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. The college was formed by the merging of five predecessor schools in 1956. Though the merging schools varied in location and size, each was a part-time evening law school. William Mitchell currently offers full and part-time programs leading to a Juris Doctor degree.

U.S. News and World Report ranks William Mitchell College of Law in the third tier of law schools in the country. The National Jurist ranked WMCL's public interest programs at the 12th national position in 2008. Notable alumni of the college include former Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Douglas Amdahl and former U.S. Ambassador to Liberia William T. Francis.
