Wingate University is a liberal arts university located in Wingate, North Carolina. The North Carolina Baptist Association established it as Wingate College in 1896. It became a four-year college in 1977. The university offers more than 40 undergraduate majors, including communications, business management, elementary education, and marketing. The main campus is spread across an area of 400 acres.

Wingate University’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams, which compete in 17 NCAA Division II sports. The official mascot of Wingate University is the Bulldog. The teams participate in sports like baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, football, volleyball and tennis.
