Terms and Guidelines

Thank you for participating in our Career Survey. Below are the terms and guidelines for taking the survey. Please read carefully to ensure that your answers meet our requirements for acceptance. Only accepted responses will be eligible for a commission for the American Red Cross.

Start the survey if you agree to the terms and guidelines below.

1. Qualifying jobs. We're looking for information from people in full-time jobs (30 hours+) that generate income. Part-time jobs, volunteer work, parenting/homemaking, and home schooling are examples of jobs that do not qualify for our survey. We also expect that the author of the survey is either currently in the job or has been in the job within the past year. 2. Experience. You must have at least two years of combined, full-time workforce experience. 3. One survey. Only one survey submission per person will be considered for acceptance. 4. Only survey results that we publish will result in a payment being made to the American Red Cross. We reserve the right to reject any survey submission for any or no reason. However, if we publish your survey, the donation will be made. 5. Word minimums. For most most questions, we provide a minimum number of words that we feel would adequately respond to the question. If all of the minimums are not met, we reserve the right to withhold payment. However, we do look at the survey results as a whole to determine completeness. 6. All surveys must meet a minimum level of quality, as determined solely us. Below are some guidelines to help you create a high quality response: * Target Audience. Keep in mind that the audience for these surveys is composed of primarily high school students, young adults, and career changers who may have an interest in your profession, but probably have (at best) just a basic idea of what people in your profession actually do. Treat this as an opportunity to educate someone about what your real day-to-day experience in the job is like. * Whenever possible, give examples. E.g, if one of the tasks of your job is to "Consult with the Director of Marketing on press matters", give an example of what that might be and what role you would take in the consultation. E.g., "I usually write a draft press release of a new product launch to use as a tool for discussion before we bring in our outside public relations agency to write the final release." * Avoid jargon. Try to avoid using acronyms and other jargon that might confuse someone unfamiliar with your career or company. If you do use industry-specific terms, please define them for those who may not be familiar with them. * Avoid personal job issues. There’s limited value in focusing on issues like managers (whether exceptionally good or bad) and other pitfalls or benefits that are exceptional to your specific situation. * Corporate job descriptions. We will not accept responses that appear to be a reiteration of a company's job description. Instead, we are looking for responses that are in your own words and reflect your experiences in the job. 7. Your privacy. You do not need to provide your name, personal information, or name of your company. Readers will be interested in the nature of the work, not your personal specifics. 8. Questions/Help Contact L.J.
