Enterprise History
Enterprise was founded by John Henry Carmichael. He settled in the city in 1881 and established a small store on present day North Main Street. The first post office of Enterprise was established in 1882. The city was incorporated in 1896. The area developed rapidly after the Alabama Midland Railway Company decided to enter the city in 1898. The monument of Boll Weevil was dedicated on December 11, 1919.
