Opp History
The City of Opp adopted its present name in 1901. It was named after Henry Opp, a German lawyer, who worked for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The arrival of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad helped Opp to develop as "The City of Opportunity." It is located in Covington County, which was founded on December 17, 1821, and was named for Brigadier General Leonard Covington.

Things To Do In Opp
The Frank Jackson State Park offers several recreational facilities such as fishing, camping, hiking, and water sports. There's a natural island with a boardwalk and walking path. Every year the city organizes the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo on the first weekend of April. It has rattlesnake demonstrations, a songwriter competition, arts, and crafts.
