Morrilton History

Morrilton was incorporated on November 24, 1879. The community was named after its landowners, E.J Morrill and George H. Morrill. It is the county seat of Conway county, which was founded on October 20, 1825, and was named in honor of Henry Wharton Conway. The present-day Harding University of Searcy, Arkansas, was located in Morrilton in the 1920s and was known as Harding College.

The North Hills Shopping Center and the River land Shopping Center are popular amongst tourists. Morrilton also hosts the Conway County Fair, Great Arkansas Pig-out Festival, and Mountain Rendezvous every year.
