Los Altos History
Juan Bautista de Anza, the famous Spanish explorer, who led a voyage in the year 1776, discovered the region of Los Altos on his way to explore the Bay of San Francisco. The city of Los Altos was incorporated in the year 1952. The credit for the earlier development of Los Altos goes to Paul Shoup, an executive of the Southern Pacific railroad. By the year 1911, there were only 50 residential homes in Los Altos and a few office buildings and stores on the Main Street. Today, Los Altos is a thriving city with beautiful residential houses and business centers.
