Los Gatos History
This town was founded somewhere around the mid-1850s, when James Alexander Forbes built the Forbes Mill on the Los Gatos Creek. The area grew into a township, which adopted the name of the mill. The name was changed to Los Gatos after a land grant from the Spanish. Los Gatos was incorporated in 1887.

The area is surrounded by a number of bike trails running through the mountains. Biking is consequently a very popular activity. The town also has some great restaurants and shopping areas.
