Introduction to Maywood, California
Laguna Land & Water Company was incorporated under the laws of the State of California on the 3rd of Dec, 1912. This was done for the intention of purchasing the eminent old de Baker Rancho from the Estate of the finest soil in Los Angeles County. Comprehensive plans were made for the development of this vast property into a self-sustaining community. However, it was not until May 1919, when the district was named as "Maywood." After the establishment of the city, it soon became a center of industry and commerce.
