Susanville History

The earliest settlers in this area were lead by Isaac Roop and Peter Lassen. They formed a separate territory for themselves called Nataqua which was later attached to Nevada and Isaac Roop became the first governor. A few years later it was discovered that the area was a part of California. The city was renamed Susanville for the name of Isaac Roop's daughter Susan.
