Fruita History
Fruita is a municipality located in the Mesa county, which forms a part of the Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlers to the area were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lapham; the city community was organized in the year 1884, by William Pabo. Fruita was officially incorporated into the state into the state the year 1894. The city was given its name because it was situated in a major fruit-growing region. In all of Western Colorado, Fruita is one of the most active, progressive, and diverse communities.
