Milford's Kent County side (then known as Saw Mill Range) was originally settled in the year 1680. Henry Bowan was the first person to settle here. After a century, a dam was built and gradually streets were laid out and various homes and businesses started to emerge, which is how Milford was established. The city of Milford was incorporated in the year 1807.
