Oldsmar History
The history of Oldsmar dates back to 1913 when the automobile pioneer Ransom E. Olds bought 37,541 acres of land in the northern part of Tampa Bay. He established the "R. E. Olds-on-the-Bay" in this area. In 1927 the name of the town was changed to Tampa Shores. However, it was again renamed as Oldsmar in 1937.
