East Point History
The present day city of East Point was originally formed in 1870 with only 16 families. The White Hickory Manufacturing Company, founded by B.M. Blount and L.M. Hill, was one of the earliest buildings of the city. In fact, L.M. Hill became the first mayor of the city. Telephone connection first came in East Point in 1884 and city received its first charter in 1887.
