Fitzgerald History
Fitzgerald was established in the year 1895 by Philander H. Fitzgerald, an editor in the Indianapolis newspaper, as a community for the Civil War veterans. The area houses the Dorminy-Massee Bed and Breakfast, built by J. J. Dorminy in the year 1915. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city of Fitzgerald holds a seat on Ben Hill county.
