Garden City History
The area now known as Garden City was officially incorporated in 1939. It adopted a council/ administrator form of government and Edgar Pipkin was elected as its first mayor on April 7, 1939. Prior to its incorporation, the area was known as Industrial City Gardens. The city is a part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area.
