Hinesville History
The present day city of Hinesville was settled in by Puritans in 1754. The area was named after Senator Charlton Hines. The Old Liberty County Jail was established in the city in 1882 and was used until 1972. Hinesville was officially incorporated in 1916. It is also home to the Fort Stewart Military Museum.
