Snellville History
Snellville was founded by Thomas Snell in the late 1870s. Along with his friend, James Sawyer, Snell built the first business establishment in this area. Their store was a success and was soon providing supplies to customers from the neighboring towns as well. In 1885, James Sawyer opened Snellville's first post office. The City of Snellville received its charter in 1923.
