Hillside History
Hillside was incorporated in 1905. The earliest settlers in this area were Thomas Reed Covell and his family, who came to live here in of October 1833. In the 1840s, German Lutheran immigrants developed farms and established Hillside’s first school and church. Railroad construction contributed immensely to the development of this region.
