Northfield History
Northfield was officially incorporated as a village in 1926. Cook County was founded on January 15, 1831, and was created out of Putnam County. The county was named in honor of Daniel Cook, one of the youngest statesmen in the history of Illinois and the first Attorney General of Illinois. In 1839, DuPage County was created out of parts of Cook County.
