Denison History
Denison is the county seat of Crawford County, which was established in 1837. The county was named after William Harris Crawford, the U.S. senator from Georgia. The original settlers of Crawford County came from the Mormon migration in 1846. Jesse W. Denison, an agent of the Providence Western Land Company was responsible for beginning a settlement in this area. The city was also named after Denison.
