Estherville History
Estherville was first settled in 1856 and was named for Esther Ridley, the wife of the city’s founder Robert Ridley. The city was incorporated in 1881. On May 10, 1879, a meteor fell near the city and parts of the meteor are displayed in various museums all over the world. The city is the county seat of Emmet County, which was organized in 1851.
