Lewiston History
Around fifty families dwelled in the area before 1774. The first permanent settler in Lewiston was Paul Hildreth. Lewiston was incorporated in 1795 and became a city in 1863. In its early history, Lewiston was found to be a slow but steadily growing farm town.
