Maryland graduate schools awarded over 1176 graduate degrees from 33 colleges in 2008-2009. Baltimore, Laurel, Towson, Annapolis and Stevenson have the greatest number of graduate schools in Maryland. Popular graduate degree programs include Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Masters in Nursing (MSN) and Masters in Public Health (MPH).

There are 26 business schools in Maryland that offer MBA programs. There are many types of MBA degrees including an MBA in Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurial Management, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Technology Management. In addition to traditional Maryland business schools, students may now access graduate programs online. This is particularly important for students who do not have access to a program locally.
