Wixom History
The settlement in the city of Wixom dates back to the 1830s. The development of the region began in the early 1870s when the Holly, Wayne and Monroe Railroad were constructed through the area. Willard Wixom purchased land on either side of the railroad near the Novi and Commerce Township border. The building of a railroad depot in the area made Wixom a popular destination. It was officially incorporated in the 1950s.
