Introduction to Cresskill, New Jersey
Cresskill was formed from parts of Palisades Township, which was established on March 22, 1871. Palisades Township was originally a part of the Hackensack Township. Cresskill was incorporated as a town on May 8, 1894, named because of the watercress plants that grew in the region.
